Infection Screening

Comprehensive testing for infectious diseases – from viral hepatitis and HIV to dengue, malaria, typhoid, and COVID-19, all analysed with precision and care.

Overview

Protect your health with early detection.

Infection screening is a set of blood and serological tests designed to detect the presence of infectious diseases – from viral and bacterial infections to parasitic and vector‑borne illnesses. Early detection of infections is crucial for timely treatment, preventing complications, and protecting the health of your family and community. Common infections we screen for include HIV, Hepatitis B & C, Syphilis, Dengue, Malaria, Typhoid, COVID-19, and more.

Infections can present with non‑specific symptoms like fever, fatigue, or body aches – or they can be completely silent. Regular screening, especially if you are at risk, are pregnant, or planning surgery, ensures early diagnosis and appropriate management. Infection screening is also essential for blood transfusions, organ transplants, and pre‑operative assessments.

At Amytri, our infection screening tests are performed using highly sensitive immunoassay analysers and molecular methods (PCR). All results are validated by experienced pathologists and shared with your physician. We offer home sample collection for your convenience, ensuring you get tested safely and comfortably.

Common infections we screen for

  • HIV 1 & 2 (Antibody/Antigen, p24, Western Blot, PCR)
  • Hepatitis B – HBsAg, Anti‑HBs, Anti‑HBc, HBeAg, HBV DNA
  • Hepatitis C – Anti‑HCV, HCV RNA (PCR)
  • Syphilis – VDRL (RPR), TPHA (Treponema Pallidum Haemagglutination Assay)
  • Dengue – NS1 Antigen, IgM/IgG Antibodies
  • Malaria – Rapid Antigen Test, Thick/Thin Smear
  • Typhoid (Enteric Fever) – Widal Test, Typhoid IgM/IgG
  • Chikungunya – IgM/IgG Antibodies
  • COVID-19 – RT‑PCR, Rapid Antigen, Antibody (IgG/IgM)
  • Tuberculosis (TB) – Mantoux (TST), IGRA (Quantiferon TB Gold), AFB Smear
  • Urine Culture & Sensitivity – for urinary tract infections
  • Blood Culture – for sepsis and bloodstream infections
Why it matters

Essential for early detection & prevention.

Infections are a leading cause of illness worldwide. Timely screening allows for early treatment, reduces complications, and prevents transmission to others.

Detection

Detect silent infections

Many infections (Hepatitis, HIV, Syphilis) can be asymptomatic for years – screening identifies them early, preventing long‑term complications and transmission.

Monitoring

Track disease progression

For chronic infections like HIV and Hepatitis B/C, regular viral load and serology testing monitor disease activity and guide treatment decisions.

Prevention

Prevent transmission

Early diagnosis allows you to take precautions to prevent spreading infections to partners, family members, or healthcare workers – protecting your community.

What we offer

Comprehensive infection screening panels.

We offer a full spectrum of infection screening tests – from rapid point‑of‑care tests to highly sensitive molecular diagnostics (PCR).

HIV Screening (4th Generation)

Combined HIV p24 antigen and antibody test – detects infection earlier than antibody‑only tests. Confirmatory Western Blot and PCR (viral load) available for diagnosis and monitoring.

Hepatitis Panel (A, B, C)

HBsAg, Anti‑HCV, Anti‑HAV, and confirmatory tests (HBV DNA, HCV RNA, genotypes). Essential for diagnosis, vaccination assessment, and monitoring chronic hepatitis.

Syphilis (VDRL/RPR + TPHA)

VDRL/RPR screening with TPHA confirmation – essential for antenatal screening, sexually transmitted infection work‑up, and neurosyphilis evaluation.

Dengue & Chikungunya

NS1 Antigen (early detection), IgM/IgG antibodies for acute and past infection. Essential during monsoon season and for febrile illness differential.

Malaria & Typhoid

Malaria Rapid Antigen Test (Pf/Pv) and Thick/Thin Smear. Widal Test and Typhoid IgM/IgG for enteric fever. Early detection prevents severe complications.

COVID-19 Testing

RT‑PCR (Gold Standard), Rapid Antigen Test, and IgG/IgM Antibody testing for infection and immunity assessment. Travel‑certified reports available.

Tuberculosis (TB) Screening

Quantiferon TB Gold (IGRA), Mantoux Test (TST), AFB Smear & Culture, and GeneXpert MTB/RIF for drug‑resistant TB detection.

Culture & Sensitivity

Blood, urine, sputum, and wound cultures with antibiotic sensitivity – identifies the exact pathogen and guides targeted antimicrobial therapy.

STI & Reproductive Panel

Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, HSV, HPV, and Mycoplasma testing – essential for sexual health and fertility assessment.

How it works

Your infection screening journey, step by step.

01
Prepare

Preparation

Fasting is usually not required. However, some tests (like HIV, Hepatitis) may require specific timing after exposure – our team will guide you. Wear comfortable clothing for blood draw.

02
Sample collection

Blood, urine, or swab

A trained phlebotomist or technician collects the required sample – blood, urine, or swab (throat, nasal, wound). For certain tests (e.g., COVID-19), we follow strict infection control protocols. Home collection is available for most tests.

03
Analysis

Laboratory processing

Samples are processed using rapid tests, ELISA, chemiluminescence immunoassay (CLIA), or molecular methods (PCR) – depending on the test. Results are reviewed by pathologists.

04
Report

Get your results

Turnaround time varies – rapid tests (4–6 hours), serology (24–48 hours), PCR and cultures (2–3 days). We deliver reports via WhatsApp or email with interpretive notes.

Is it for you?

Infection screening is recommended if any of these apply.

Screening is essential for anyone at risk – as well as for routine health checks, travel, and pre‑operative assessment.

Unexplained fever, fatigue, or weight loss

Persistent symptoms may indicate chronic infection – screening helps identify the cause and guide treatment.

Pre‑operative or pre‑procedural assessment

Infection screening (HIV, Hepatitis B/C) is often required before surgery or invasive procedures to ensure patient and staff safety.

Pregnancy (Antenatal Screening)

Routine antenatal screening for HIV, Hepatitis B, Syphilis, and Rubella is essential to prevent mother‑to‑child transmission and ensure a healthy pregnancy.

Travel to endemic areas

If you have travelled to regions with high prevalence of Dengue, Malaria, Typhoid, or COVID-19, screening is recommended for peace of mind.

Sexual health screening

Regular STI screening (HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis B) is recommended for sexually active individuals, especially with multiple partners or new relationships.

Contact with infected individuals

If you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, TB, Hepatitis, or other infections, screening helps determine if you have been infected and guides isolation or treatment.
