A breast imaging consultation is a specialised evaluation by a radiologist expert in breast imaging. It includes a clinical breast examination, targeted imaging (mammography, ultrasound, elastography), and, if needed, biopsy – all with clear explanations and coordinated care.
A referral from your doctor is recommended for diagnostic consultations. For routine screening, you can book directly. However, we always share reports with your primary care provider.
Wear a two‑piece outfit. Avoid deodorant, powder, or lotion on the day of mammography. For biopsy, we will provide additional instructions. No fasting is required.
Mammography involves brief compression that may be uncomfortable but not painful for most women. Ultrasound and elastography are painless. Biopsy is performed under local anaesthesia to minimise discomfort.
BI‑RADS is a standardised reporting system for breast imaging – it categorises findings from 0 (incomplete) to 6 (biopsy‑proven cancer). It helps guide recommendations for follow‑up, additional imaging, or biopsy.
You will receive verbal feedback immediately after your imaging. A formal BI‑RADS report is prepared within 24–48 hours and shared with you and your doctor.
