Detect liver inflammation and damage
Elevated transaminases (AST/ALT) signal hepatocellular injury – from viral hepatitis, fatty liver, alcohol, or medications – allowing early intervention.
Liver function tests (LFTs) are a group of blood tests that assess the health of your liver – the body's largest internal organ and a vital metabolic powerhouse. LFTs measure enzymes, proteins, and bilirubin that reflect liver cell integrity, bile flow, and synthetic function. They are essential for detecting liver inflammation, damage, or obstruction, and for monitoring chronic liver conditions.
The liver performs over 500 functions – from detoxifying chemicals and metabolising drugs to producing bile and clotting factors. Damage to the liver may not cause symptoms until advanced, making regular LFTs crucial for early detection of fatty liver, hepatitis, cirrhosis, or drug‑induced injury.
At Amytri, our liver function tests are performed using fully automated analysers with strict quality controls. Results are validated by experienced pathologists and shared with your gastroenterologist or physician. We also offer home sample collection for your convenience.
The liver is central to metabolism, detoxification, and immunity. LFTs provide a window into its condition – helping prevent and manage liver diseases.
Elevated transaminases (AST/ALT) signal hepatocellular injury – from viral hepatitis, fatty liver, alcohol, or medications – allowing early intervention.
For patients with cirrhosis, hepatitis B/C, or fatty liver, serial LFTs monitor disease progression and treatment response.
Early detection of liver enzyme elevation allows modification of risk factors (alcohol, diet, medications) and timely treatment to prevent irreversible damage.
We offer a full range of liver tests – from basic screening to comprehensive hepatic panels – to give you and your doctor a complete picture.
SGOT (AST) and SGPT (ALT) are elevated in liver cell injury. ALT is more specific to the liver; the AST/ALT ratio helps differentiate causes (e.g., alcohol vs. viral).
Elevated ALP and GGT indicate bile duct obstruction or cholestasis – from gallstones, tumours, or primary biliary cholangitis. GGT is also sensitive to alcohol intake.
Measures the breakdown of red blood cells. Elevated bilirubin causes jaundice – direct (conjugated) indicates obstruction, while indirect (unconjugated) suggests haemolysis or Gilbert's syndrome.
Albumin is produced exclusively by the liver – low levels indicate chronic liver disease or malnutrition. Total protein and A/G ratio add context for liver and immune disorders.
Measures clotting function – prolonged PT indicates severe liver dysfunction or vitamin K deficiency (often included in comprehensive panels).
If indicated, we offer HBsAg, Anti‑HCV, and other viral markers to identify the cause of elevated LFTs.
Fasting for 8–12 hours is recommended (water only) for accurate results. Avoid alcohol and heavy meals 24 hours before the test. Inform us about any medications you are taking.
A trained phlebotomist collects a venous blood sample. The process is quick and gentle. We also offer home sample collection for your convenience.
Samples are processed on fully automated analysers using validated methods. Results are reviewed by experienced pathologists before release.
Reports are ready within 24 hours and delivered via WhatsApp or email. We provide reference ranges and flag abnormal values for easy interpretation.
LFTs are essential for anyone with risk factors for liver disease, as well as for routine health screening.
Symptoms like yellowing of skin/eyes, persistent fatigue, or nausea may indicate liver dysfunction – LFTs can confirm.
Regular alcohol consumption and non‑alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) are major causes of liver damage – screening is crucial.
These conditions are closely linked to fatty liver – LFTs are a key part of routine monitoring.
Many drugs (e.g., statins, NSAIDs, anti‑TB drugs, antiepileptics) can affect the liver – regular LFTs ensure safety.
If you have a family history of haemochromatosis, Wilson's disease, or other inherited liver conditions, early screening is advised.
Including LFTs in your annual health screening ensures any silent liver issues are caught early.
Dr. Abhishek oversees all liver function testing at Amytri, ensuring that each result is accurate and clinically reliable. He works closely with gastroenterologists, hepatologists, and primary care physicians to interpret complex LFT patterns and guide further investigation – from imaging (ultrasound/FibroScan) to specialist referral.
Liver function testing can be a step toward better health – having your partner or family member with you provides support and shared understanding.
We welcome partners during blood collection. They can sit with you, ask questions, and help remember the doctor’s advice. Shared understanding makes lifestyle changes and treatment easier.
LFTs are a panel of blood tests that measure enzymes, proteins, and bilirubin to assess liver health – including AST/ALT, ALP, GGT, bilirubin, albumin, and total protein.
Yes, fasting for 8–12 hours is recommended (water only). This ensures accurate baseline values, especially for bilirubin and triglycerides that can affect LFTs.
Elevated AST and ALT suggest liver cell injury – from viral hepatitis, alcohol, fatty liver, or medications. Elevated ALP and GGT indicate bile duct issues. A doctor will interpret the pattern.
LFT reports are ready within 24 hours. We send them via WhatsApp or email, or you can collect them in person.
Yes! We offer home sample collection for all LFTs. A trained phlebotomist will visit you at your convenience.
A prescription is recommended for targeted testing, but you can also walk in for LFT screening without a prescription. Our doctor can advise you on the appropriate tests.
